We had the privilege to have the Deputy Mayor of Basildon, Clr Yetunde Adeshile attending the session and over 125 patients attending the seminar which was the full capacity. Due to limited spaces, patients over the age of 60 years old were invited to either book their place via a link shared via text message inviting them to our seminar by the PCN; via logging into Central Basildon PCN website or alternatively, or by contacting their surgeries directly to book a place. Central Basildon PCN provides care for over 50.000 patients across nine member practices and we are planning to provide many other seminars to our patients in the near future.
The Winter Self Care Seminar delivered today by Central Basildon Primary Care Network was an outstanding success, benefitting the local community in numerous ways. With a focus on promoting well-being for our patients during the challenging winter months, the seminar offered valuable insights into caring for oneself during the winter period.
The session has been organised by the Clinical Director, PCN manager, Digital & transformation Lead, Lead Clinical Pharmacist, CEO and founder of Motivated Minds and one of Basildon Side by Side’s directors.
Lead Pharmacist delivered the seminar by talking directly to patients about the importance of Flu vaccinations, referrals to community pharmacy (which is one of our current projects), over the counter medication available, good nutrition, looking after their mental health, the importance of keeping hydrated during the winter months and when to seek assessment in primary care vs secondary care.
Central Basildon PCN also had one of our Social Prescribers, talking to patients about social prescribing services available in the PCN, how patients can self refer to these service and tips about how can people keep their homes warm during the winter period alongside the cost living crisis.
Participants left with a wealth of knowledge and resources to maintain their health throughout the winter. Additionally, the seminar fostered a sense of unity and support among attendees, strengthening the community’s resilience and talking inequality in the area.
The success of this event highlights Central Basildon Primary Care Network’s commitment to holistic healthcare and community engagement, setting a positive precedent for future initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of their patients.
